Jon Durr

Jonathan Eugene Durr, 41, of Marshalltown, IA passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.  Jon was the son of Rick and Andrea Klatt Durr and big brother to Matt. Per the wishes of Jon and his family, cremation rites have been accorded. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life on Tuesday, October 12 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. For questions or condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call 641-844-1234.  Jon was born in Indianapolis, IN at St Vincent Hospital on October 16, 1979.  In 1986 the family returned to the Marshalltown area where Jon attended Marshalltown High School and graduated in 1998.   Jon was a skilled and artistic woodworker who created and built custom furniture and cabinetry.  He was employed at Kutzner Cabinets from 2000-2007 before accepting a position at OSI in Chicago.  In 2009 Jon returned to Marshalltown to start his own company, JD Custom Woodwork, which he owned and operated for over 10 years.   Jon had many interests including fishing in Canada and snowmobiling in Wyoming with his many friends, including his very best friend, his brother Matt.  The family enjoyed many trips to Leech Lake, Yellowstone and the Black Hills and Lake Rathbun for boating and waterskiing.    Left to cherish Jon’s memory is his daughter Emily, his partner Jeni Cervellera, his father Rick Durr and Starla Atwell, brother Matt, Grandmother Virginia Durr and many aunts, uncles, cousins.   Jon was preceded in death by his Mother Andrea Klatt Durr, Grandmother Charlotte Klatt, Grandfathers Lloyd Durr and Herb Klatt, Aunt Pamela Robinson, Uncle Bill Robinson, Cousins Kory Klatt and Marcus Klatt.  A memorial fund will be set up for his young daughter Emily.
