Jose Luis Maravilla-Reynosa, 76, of Marshalltown, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, November 23, 2020 under the care of Hospice of the Midwest. Funeral mass for Jose will be held on Monday, November 30 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Francis of Assisi – St. Mary Catholic Church in Marshalltown. A visitation will take place on Sunday, November 29 at 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home, followed by a vigil at 7:00 P.M. Per state guidelines, all attendees are required to wear masks and practice social distancing. Memorials may be directed to the family. Jose was born on September 24, 1944 in Venustian Carranza, Michoacan, Mexico to parents Librado Maravilla and Julia Reynosa. He was united in marriage to Alicia Maravilla on June 6, 1967 in Cojumatlan, Michoacan. Together they lived in Petatan, Michoacan, where he worked as a fisherman before moving to Marshalltown in 1995. Jose worked at JBS and retired in 2012. In his free time, he enjoyed playing guitar, singing, watching soccer and making snow cones for his family. Jose was very happy and always the life of the party. He loved to make sure everyone was having a good time, often by getting them to dance. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 53 years, Alicia; his children: Francisco Maravilla, Maria (Marcos) Maravilla, Blanca (Rene) Maravilla, Delia Maravilla, Felipe “Chuy” (Maricela) Maravilla, Margarita (Bernardo) Maravilla, Carlos Maravilla, Adrian (Jovana) Maravilla and Norma Maravilla; many, many grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; his siblings: Alberto (Leticia) Maravilla, Antonio (Martha) Maravilla, Jose Cruz (Flor) Maravilla, Rafael (Carmen) Maravilla and Jesus Maravilla and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In death, Jose will be reunited with his parents; his sons: Enrique Maravilla and Jose Luis Maravilla and his brothers: Manuel Maravilla, Ruben Maravilla, Salvador Maravilla and Gertrudis Maravilla.
