Joseph John Karl III, 54, of Marshalltown, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at his home. Memorial services for Joey will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family. Joseph John Karl III was born on December 10, 1960 in Port Huron, Michigan to Joseph Jr and Ruthmae Freimark Karl. Joey graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1979. Joey was a collector of many things and was a member of the Beer Can Collectors of America. Joey was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan and loved old T.V. shows such as the Brady Bunch and Lawrence Welk. Joey was a trivia fanatic and could tell you about any of the United States Presidents. Joey may have been a little mischievous as well. Left to cherish Joeys memory is his mother Ruthmae. Siblings: Rick (Kris) Karl of Tucson, Arizona, Scott Karl of Monroe and Kristi Karl of Marshalltown, Uncle Wayne and Aunt Cathy of Prescott, Arizona and several cousins. Joey is preceded in death by his father; Joseph Jr., Grandmother Ruth Phillips, Uncle Garry Phillips and Aunt Pat Phillips.
