Joseph P. Pieper, 79, of the Iowa Veterans Home, died early Saturday, November 22, 2008.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2008, at St. Marys Catholic Church. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been caring for Joe and his family.Joe was born on July 2, 1929, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of Emil H. and Pauline (Rodenborn) Pieper. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School Class of 1947 in Fort Dodge. He served our country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1948-1950. He was married to Carol Childs. Joe lived in Indiana and most recently Marshalltown, where he was self-employed in a vehicle body shop business. He was a member of the Legion of Guardsman and enjoyed golfing, bowling, and fishing.Joe is survived by his children, Dawn Pieper, Mike Pieper, and Tina Gibson; step-daughters Tammy and Julie, grandchildren Brandon, Brooklyn, Marriah, Amanda, Chantelle and Breanna and his siblings, John, Tom, Jean, Tim, and Judy.He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Joan and Paula; and his brother, Daniel.
