Born Joy Ellen Crandall on February 2, 1950, in Hampton, Iowa, she was the daughter of Leroy George Bud and Marcella Mae (Bynum) Crandall. She received her LPN Degree from NIACC in Mason City. On April 18, 1969, she was united in marriage to Curtis Duane Andrews in Hampton. The couple resided in Hampton, Colorado and Union. Joy was passionate about nursing and served those in need at the Hampton Hospital, Longmont Hospital in Colorado, and for 22 years at the Iowa Veterans Home as well as homemaking and operating the fur farm with her husband. Joy loved her family- especially the grandkids! She enjoyed her gardens, hummingbirds, going to garage sales and recently the Josh Groban concert she went to. Some final notes from Joy herself are these: I enjoyed my job at IVH and will always think of co-workers and miss all the residents. We used to dance to the Bee-Gees! My favorite time of the day was just before dark. Go on the front porch and watch hummingbirds and thankful to have such a wonderful view- what a great time to pray. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Jason Andrews, Jeremiah (Mindy) Andrews, Joshua Andrews, step-daughter Lynnette Beam, her precious grandchildren: Julia, Dylan, Evan and Gracie, sisters Jayne Georgeou and Jill Schweiger as well as many wonderful and caring friends and family who helped her through this last battle. In death, she rejoined her beloved husband Curtis who died in July of this year, her parents and in-laws Ruth and Duane Andrews.
