Joyce Egleston

Joyce Egleston passed away comfortably at her home on Monday, February 8, 2021 under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Cremation rites have been accorded and a graveside service will be announced at a later date. Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Joyce and her family. She often spoke of her great childhood growing up on the farm and attending a one-room schoolhouse with her three brothers and three sisters. Joyce met her future husband, Carl Eugene Wickham, through her brothers. While on furlough, they brought Carl home with them and they fell in love quickly. They soon married and began their family. Together they had four children and a happy marriage until 1976 when Carl was taken after a long battle with kidney disease. Years later she found love again with Lee Egleston. They married in February of 1979, making his four young boys part of the children she loved as her family. Joyce’s family grew in time to include 21 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Joyce greatly enjoyed her golf and bowling leagues and several women’s clubs where she met many lifelong friends. She will be remembered as the type of person who tried to make everyone she met feel valued and cared for. Her loving heart will be missed by so many.
