Joyce Marie Kutzner, 80, of Marshalltown, died Thursday, March 25, 2010, at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2010, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Joyce and her family. Phone 641-844-1234.Joyce Marie Kutzner was born February 18, 1930, to Joseph and Dorothy (Grant) Bleakley in Triumph, Minnesota. She received her education in Welcome, Minnesota. Joyce then received her nursing education from Evangelical School of Nursing in Marshalltown.In August of 1950, Joyce was united in marriage to Ernest Kutzner Jr. in Marshalltown. They resided in Marshalltown their entire married lives. Joyce had worked as a nurse for 30 years, working as an OB nurse at St. Thomas. She had worked for Dr. McFadden and retired from Iowa Veterans Home in 1990. Joyce had belonged to Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marshalltown and several of their circles. She belonged to the VFW Auxiliary Lioness and the Chain Gang, a retired nurses group. Joyce enjoyed her family and traveling with them, quilting, crocheting, collecting marked ash trays and salts, and had always owned and adored her cats. Left to cherish her memory are children Richard (Deni) Kutzner and Ronald Kutzner; her granddaughter Megan Kutzner; and her great-grandchildren Julian Kutzner and Sara Kutzner. In death, she has rejoined her parents, her brother Paul Bleakley; her sister Thelma Lohse, and her husband Ernest, who died in 1993.
