Joyce B. Schmidt

Joyce B. Schmidt, 83, of Marshalltown, Iowa, formerly of Kellogg, passed away Monday, May 26, 2025 at the Iowa River Hospice Home.

Joyce was born February 23, 1942 in Grundy Center, Iowa to parents Harry and Helen (Wiese) Schmidt. Joyce graduated from Waverly High School in 1960. She moved to Hawaii in 1968, where she worked as the first woman crane operator in the shipyard at Pearl Harbor. She continued living and working there until her retirement in 2000. She liked being out and about and socializing while in Hawaii and sharing her love of the island with her friends and family. Upon her return to Iowa, she lived at Rock Creek and enjoyed her cabin at the lake.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Mike (Debbie) Schmidt of Marshalltown; three grandchildren: Christopher (Jennifer) Schmidt of Marshalltown, and Carrie and Courtney Schmidt, both of Ankeny; and her sister, Janice Crowe of Conrad.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents.
