Juanita Rhodes Gile

Juanita Mae (Rhodes) Gile, age 85, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away at the Specialty Care Facility in Eldora, IA and entered into her heavenly home on Thursday, June 17th, 2021.  Visitation to be held on Friday, June 25th at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, IA from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a memorial service beginning at 12:00 p.m. and cremation will follow.  The graveside service and burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 28th at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Juanita was born on April 13, 1936 in Americus, Indiana, the child of Edward and Ruth (Fawley) Underhill.  She attended school at Americus and then moved to Le Grand, IA where she met James L. Rhodes and married Jim on February 6, 1954. She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed cooking, gardening and tending to her flowers. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Kathy Johnson of Zearing, IA, Don Rhodes of Gladbrook, IA and Jay (Dolly) Rhodes of St. Charles, MO; her grandchildren: Corey (Allison) Vesely of Waterloo, IA, Ben (Ann) Vesely of Urbandale, IA, Emily (Scott) Krambeck of Lincoln, NE, Trevor (Myshelle) Rhodes of Urbandale, IA, Travis Rhodes of Gladbrook, IA, Nicole (Jerry) Rhodes of Conrad, IA, Jacob (Bree) Rhodes of Olathe, KS, Katie Rhodes of Olathe, KS and Hannah Mary Rhodes (deceased as an infant). Juanita has many great grandchildren, Caleb, Ali, Michaela and Isabella; Logan, Shannon, Monique, Jayden and Lincoln; Brianna, Andrew and Alex; Austin, Julius, and Kambrie; and one great-great grandchild Azariah. She will also be lovingly remembered by her brothers Duane (Denise) Underhill of West Branson, MO Tom (Sheryl) Underhill of Marshalltown, IA and Dennis (Vicki) Underhill of Le Grand, IA; her sisters, Shirley (Keith) Johns of Auburn, WA, Carol (Larry) Adams of McHenry, IL and Sandra (George) Anderson of Monticello, IN, her sisters-in-law Cathy (Lenny) Underhill of Le Grand, IA, Jeannie (Bobby) Underhill of LeGrand, IA and a brother-in-law Rob (Donna) Rhodes of Schenectady, NY plus many loved nephews and nieces. Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, James Rhodes; parents Edward Underhill and Ruth Underhill Edwards; her siblings Eddie, Duke, Stephen, Lenny, Robert and Patsy Underhill, Marlene & Jack Baker, Phyllis “Jean” & Merle Ridout, George Anderson and Keith Johns.  Her in-laws Maxine & Homer Rhodes, Judith & Richard Endicott, William & Marilyn Rhodes, a son-in-law Rick Vesely and one great grandchild Brittany Rhodes as an infant.Family is requesting no flowers. Cash donations can be made in lieu of flowers where the family will make a donation to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
