Juanita Hickman, 85, of Marshalltown, died late Saturday night, May 23rd, at the Grandview Heights where she has resided since January of 2008. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 27th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in the Garwin Cemetery at Garwin. Ph 641-844-1234. Juanita was born on the Uhlenberg home place on June 16th, 1923, at Garwin, Iowa. She was the daughter of John and Clara (Jensen) Uhlenberg. Juanita had two sisters Marcella and Dorothy and a brother Paul. She attended school at Carlton #5 Rural School near Garwin. She was united in marriage with Lyle Hickman on June 22, 1950 in Marshalltown. Lyle and Juanita made their home on a farm near Garwin all of their married life. She moved to Marshalltown in 1970. Juanita worked for Marshall Ice Cream, Forest Park Roller Rink, Kresges, Cliftons Grocery, Smittys Big Town Grocery, Econofoods, Ben Franklin and Haleys Grocery as well as doing home health care. She enjoyed planting flowers, preparing dinners for family and meeting with her two sisters for lunch. Left to celebrate her life are her three children: son Arlon Hickman, daughters: Kayrene (Don) Baie and Charlett Kelley all of Marshalltown, six grandchildren: Colleen Baie, Christina Grimm, Tracy Halbstein, Greg Hickman, David Grimm, Darren Grimm and five great-grandchildren as well as her sisters Marcella Murty of Vinton and Dorothy Husak of Toledo. She was preceded in death by her father and mother- John and Clara Uhlenberg, brother Paul Uhlenberg and Lyle Hickman.
