Judith Judy K. Petersen-Straight, 62, of Clemons, died Monday, March 17th, at the Israel Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 20th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Rev. David Peterson of the New Hope Christian Church officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Hillside Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the service time on Thursday. Born Judith Kay Petersen on February 26th, 1946, in Toledo, Iowa, she was the daughter of Arthur Paul and Mildred Vera (Lucina) Petersen. She graduated from the South Tama High School in 1964. Judy was employed at Donnelley Marketing in Nevada from 1982 until 1996 and the IVH from 1999 until 2002. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Tama and later in State Center. She enjoyed puppies, animals, her raccoon collection, and was a very independent woman raising three children by herself. On Christmas Eve of 2003, she was united in marriage to Ricky Straight in Reno, Nevada. He survives as do three children: Master Sergeant Darin Matthew Green, United States Air Force, Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado and daughter Captain Kelli Rene Green, United States Air Force, Buechel Air Base in Germany, daughter Jennifer Ann Powers (Andy Bryant) of Clemons, granddaughter Courtney Dorothy Louise Powers, brothers Donald Petersen of Meade, Oklahoma, Howard Petersen of Robinson, Texas, and Duane Petersen of Malta, Idaho, as well as nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. In death she has rejoined her parents.
