Judith Judy Mae Simons, 61, of Middleburg, Florida, passed away on November 26, 2013 at her home. Memorial services for Judy will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2013, at Central Christian Church in Marshalltown, Iowa with Pastor Loren Strait officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed in Judys name to her family, which will be donated to the Marshalltown Area Animal Rescue League. Judith Mae Simons was born on August 26, 1952, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Robert Owen and Betty Jane Shenkle Simons. She was raised and educated in the Marshalltown school district graduating from Marshalltown High School graduating with the class of 1970. After high school Judy obtained her bachelors degree from the Medical Institute of Minnesota and the University of Iowa. Judy was employed with Jacksonville Naval Air Station. She was in charge of a four state area blood bank as a Phlebotomist for the Navy, retiring in 2011. She was a member of the Central Christian Church in Marshalltown. Judy had a passion for reading, collecting books, animals, watching and going to football games, especially watching the Iowa Hawkeyes. She also enjoyed working at the races and elections. Left to cherish Judys memory are her sister, Marla (Bob) Cook; and their children: Brad and Melia Cook; her brother, Steve (Jill) Simons, and their children: Sarah and Courtney Simons, Beth (Josh) Vogeler; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Judy is preceded in death by her parents and one infant brother.
