Judy Hill

Judy Hill, age 83, of Marshalltown, passed away on Monday, December 22nd at the Iowa River Hospice Home, a place she volunteered for many hours over the years, and with her son Jeff at her side.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at Grace Church with Pastor Bob Kosbau officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Born Judy Wood on April 9th, 1942, in Grinnell, Iowa, she was the daughter and one of three children born to Everett and Rosezella (Maiden) Wood. She graduated from the Grinnell High School in 1960 and soon began an energetic working life at Meredith Publishing in Des Moines.

On October 7th, 1961, she was united in marriage to George Hill at the Baptist church in Grinnell. They made their home in Gilman for four years until moving to Marshalltown.

Judy was a faithful member of the Grace Church in Marshalltown as well as the Marshalltown Lioness (perfect attendance for over three decades) and holding the positions of President, Tail-Twister, and board member; Red Hat Society, American Business Women (serving as Queen Mother), Relay for Life Volunteer, several church groups and volunteered for the Iowa River Hospice since 1988.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Jeff, of Marshalltown; sister, Joyce Welsch of Glenview, IL; and numerous friends and church family.

In death, Judy rejoined her beloved George who passed in 2011; her parents; and her brother, Dr. Dennis Wood.
