Judy Smith

Judy J. Smith, 74, of Marshalltown, passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.  Memorial services for Judy will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown with private family burial to follow. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Judy and her family.  Judy Fehrmann was born on January 6, 1944 in Laurel to Carl and Areka Wisgerhoff Fehrmann. She graduated from Le Grand High School. On July 21, 1962, Judy was united in marriage to Ted Smith in Marshalltown. She had been employed at the Marshall County Care Facility for approximately 19 years. Judy enjoyed reading, gardening and flowers, bird watching, cooking and helping on the farm when able. Most importantly, she enjoyed the time watching her grandchildren.  Judy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ted, children: Debbie (John Reardon) Groves of Ankeny, Mary (Phil) Anderson of Marshalltown, Ted (Yolanda) Smith Jr. of Marshalltown and Jason Smith of Marshalltown. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Alicia (Adam), Sarah, Kelsea, Tyler, Brittany, Seth and Owen and great grandchild Paetyn as well as her brother Fred (Barb) Fehrmann of Marshalltown.  Judy is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Areka, granddaughter Channing and siblings, Neal Fehrmann and Betty Sunkle.
