Julia (Mrs. John) Nickerson, Aunt Judy to her family, age 97, left this earthly journey at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday morning, March 14, at the Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center where she has resided with John since November. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 16 at the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with Rev. Alan Mullikin of the LeGrand Friends Church officiating. Born Julia Haskell on April 24, 1914, in Ferguson, Iowa, she was one of nine children born to William and Julia (Olson) Haskell. She and all of her siblings graduated from the Ferguson High School which was built in the same year she was born. Her first marriage was to Ed Wooldridge. He passed away very suddenly in the early 1960s. On November 24, 1970, she was united in marriage to John Nickerson. They made their home on the farm near Beaman and later moved to Olive Estates in Marshalltown. She dearly loved her condo at Olive Estates. Mrs. Nickerson was a member of the Ferguson Christian Bible Church and had been employed at Fantles and Eds Furniture Studio (her husbands shop). Left to cherish her memory are John, her loving husband of 41 years, daughter Lavonne (Larry) Parks of LeGrand- born her niece but when her mom died when she was 9, was raised as a daughter by Judy, grandchildren Shannon (Darcy) Parks of LeGrand and Heather (Jeff) Oelklaus of Colorado Springs, CO, great-grandchildren: Jacob, Olivia and Cyan and many nieces, nephews and their families. In death, she rejoined her parents, husband Ed Wooldridge and siblings: Bill Haskell, George Haskell, Mamie Lundy, Grace Haskell, Gladys Kramer, Louise Vanderventer, Margaret Spear and Wanda Lovig.
