Julie (Mrs. Ron) Benda

Julie (Mrs. Ron) Benda, age 60, of Union Grove Lake, passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 9th, in the peace of her home.           Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 14th, at the Christ Lutheran Church with Pastor Fred Berry officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Maple Hill Cemetery north of Gladbrook. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church, 713 Spring Street, Gladbrook. Ph. 641-844-1234.           Born on April 4th, 1959, she was the daughter of Roger and Maureen “Judy” (Swiggum) Halverson. She graduated from the Gladbrook High School in 1977.           On September 17th, 1988, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Ron Benda, at the Christ Lutheran Church. They have made their home at Union Grove Lake all of their married lives. Julie was a loving wife, wonderful mother and grandmother who loved to cook and take care of everyone. She treasured her grandchildren and the time spent with all her family. She was a member of the church and the Lutheran Ladies group.           Left to cherish her memory are Ron, her loving husband of 31 years; three wonderful children- Jason (Debbie) Halverson of Waterloo, Andrea (Daniel) Raffield of Reinbeck and Jamie Benda of Johnston, Iowa (Austin Walk) ; six precious grandchildren- Ethan, Wyatt, Emily, Aidan, Grayson and McKenna as well as siblings Kim Thompson of Gladbrook, Ron (Dondee) Halverson of Cherokee, Todd (Kristi) Halverson of Gladbrook and Jeff Halverson of Gladbrook as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.           In death, she rejoined her parents.
