On April 27, 2011 Julie A. Swartz left her earthly home of 54 years to join her heavenly Father, her mother Phyllis Hundertmark Savage, her father James Savage, and her older brother Danny Savage. Left to celebrate her life are her husband Kenneth W. Swartz, her sisters: Cheryl Taft (K.C.) of Beaman Iowa, Theresa Randall of Nevada, Iowa, and her brothers: Jerry Savage (Natalie ) of Des Moines and Bryan Savage also of Des Moines, Iowa. Surviving In-Laws include Karen Swartz Weltzin, Tom Swartz (Janey) all of Marshalltown, Iowa. Julie is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.Julie was born April 18, 1957, in Marshalltown, Iowa, where she grew up with her parents and her five siblings. She was the fourth of six children. She attended St. Marys Church and St. Marys elementary school. She graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1975 and later from Marshalltown Community College. She was a long term employee of Taylors Maid-Rite and Security Bank in Marshalltown.Ken and Julie were married in 1985 and resided in Marshalltown until 1995 when Ken and Julie moved to the Kansas City area because of Kens railroad employment transfer. After their move to Kansas City, Julie continued her career in banking. Julie loved her frequent family reunions. She was famous in her extended family for her deviled eggs and baked pies. Julie enjoyed collecting unicorns. She enjoyed the family fishing trips to their cabin in Minnesota. Ken and Julie bred and raced Thoroughbred and Quarter horses at Prairie Meadows in Iowa and Kansas City race tracks.She loved her cats, dogs, and horses as if members of the family. Julie was a woman with a kind and gentle spirit. She was most happy when she was with her husband, family members, friends, and pets.The family wishes to thank the staffs of the Liberty, Missouri, hospital and the Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown, Iowa, for their untiring dedication to Julie in her final days. Memorials may be directed to the Iowa River Hospice House at 502 Plaza Heights Road, Marshalltown, IA 50158.The family will be conducting a public visitation and service. The visitation will be held Tuesday, May 3 from 5:00 7:00 P.M. at the lower level of St. Marys Church in Marshalltown, Iowa, with a Rosary to immediately follow. The Memorial Service at St. Marys Church will be held Wednesday, May 4 at 10:30 A.M. with a luncheon to follow.
