June Alice Oleson, 92, of Marshalltown passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at the Hawkeye Care Center (formally Villa del Sol). Services for June will be held on Monday, September 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Hope United Methodist Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be on Sunday, September 27, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed either to the Hope United Methodist Church, the Janice Heiberger-Davis Nursing Scholarship Fund at Marshalltown Community College, or to the family. June Rastede was born on May 30, 1923 in Pender, Nebraska to John Henry and Dorothy Agnes Kibble Rastede. She graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1940. She went on to St. Thomas School of Nursing and graduated in 1944. In May of 1944, June was united in marriage and to this union, four children were born, they later divorced. From 1943 until 1958, June was a Registered Nurse at Mercy Hospital in Marshalltown. Then from 1958 until 1966 June was in clinical nursing and a LPN Instructor at St. Thomas School of Nursing. June finished her career starting in 1966 as a state inspector for nursing homes and health facilities and retiring in 1986. June was a member of Hope United Methodist Church and the Marshalltown Senior Center. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, traveling (cruises), fishing, and family gatherings. June is survived by her children: Keith (Diane) Oleson of Marshalltown, Gary (Connie) Oleson of Draper, Utah and daughter in law Julie Oleson of Glen Ellen, California. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and her sister Miriam (Ellsworth) Schuett of Watertown, Wisconsin. June is preceded in death by her parents, John and Dorothy, and children, Janice and Kenneth.
