Karen Ecklor

Karen Ecklor, 62, of Heritage Manor in Newton, died Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 8th, 2010, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Karens remains will be scattered in the Gulf of Mexico. Memorials may be directed to the family. She was the daughter of Orville and Inez (Huber) Shutt. She graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1966. In 1967, Karen married Roger Ecklor in Marshalltown. They later divorced. Karen lived in Marshalltown and most recently in Newton. She was very independent, giving, generous, and fun to be around. She was positive and laughed easily. She enjoyed doing yardwork, the beach, traveling, reading, and held her friends as dear to her as her own family.Left to mourn her loss are her children Jerry (Heidi) Ecklor of Jacksonville, FL, Chad (Sheri) Ecklor of Dexter, IA, and Lisa (Dave) Freeman of Marshalltown; her two grandchildren Ryley and Izabella; her brother Ron Shutt; and her sisters Nene Jabobs, Bev Hammond, and JoAnn Stafford.In death, Karen has rejoined her parents, her brother Edward Shutt, and her sister June Duncan.
