Karen Underhill, 71, of Marshalltown passed away on Friday, October 19, 2012 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa surrounded by her loved ones. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. There will be no visitation. Karen Louise Mayer was born on September 18, 1941 in St Anthony, Iowa; she was the daughter of Elmer and Beulah (Keeler) Mayer. Karen had attended school in the State Center School District graduating with the class on 1959. She had resided in Marshalltown most of her life. Karen had worked at Marshalltown Manufacturing for 20 plus years, the Iowa Veterans Home, Econo Foods and finishing her career at Meskwaki Casino. Karen loved her cats, enjoyed puzzles and the outdoors.Left to cherish her memory is her companion of 42 years: Allen Vodochodsky of Marshalltown, her son, Duane D. (Gretchen) Underhill of Olathe, Kansas, and her precious granddaughters Kayla and Kendra, her sister, Jan (Gary) Anderson of Saint Cloud, Minnesota.In death Karen rejoins her parents, Elmer and Beulah and her siblings: Richard in infancy, James, George, Marjorie and Glenna.
