Karen Colleen Weiny

Karen Weiny, 80, of Marshalltown, Iowa, went to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of Sunday, February 23, 2020 at the Iowa River Hospice Home with her family at her side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Karen on Friday, February 28, 2020 at the St. Francis of Assisi Parish – St. Mary Church beginning at 10:30 a.m. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family for later designation. Karen Colleen Goodman Weiny was born December 15, 1939 in Rhodes, Iowa to Urban and Alice Goodman. She graduated from Rhodes High School in 1958. Karen had many wonderful memories of growing up on the Goodman Century Farm with her siblings Darrell and Lola. She worked for Marshalltown Instruments, K-Mart, and the Marshalltown Hospital. On April 27, 1963 she was united in marriage to Donald F. Drummer. To this union four children were born. They were later divorced. She married John W. Weiny on May 18, 2002. Karen enjoyed the Red Hat Society, taking her grandchildren out to Chinese food, playing cards with her family and friends, and a bit of gambling at Meskwaki. She was preceded in death by her husband John and her parents. Karen is survived by her children Randy (Diana) Drummer of Cedar Rapids, IA, Kevin (Michelle) Drummer of Albion, IA, Christine (Rick) Matney of Marshalltown, IA, and Jeff (Amy) Drummer of Conrad, IA; her grandchildren Phillip and Elizabeth Drummer, Kaelee, Kellie, and Katie Matney, Jarrett and Vanessa Drummer, and step-grandchildren Jared and David Travnicek and their family; and her siblings Darrell (Marge) Goodman and Lola (Darold) Dreessen. Karen’s obituary is lovingly written by her family.
