Karen M. Witt, 83, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at the Iowa River

Hospice in Marshalltown Iowa.

Funeral services for Karen will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2023 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor

John Paul Jones officiating. Public visitation will be one hour prior to services at 1:00 p.m. Karen will be laid to rest in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Karen Marie Witt was born on August 15, 1939, in Marshalltown, Iowa to Leo W. and Ruth E. (Williams) Lounsberry. She graduated from Green Mountain High School in 1957. Karen was united in marriage to the love of her life, Duane E. Witt on September 14, 1957, at the Bethany United Methodist Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. They had three children: Terry, Mike and Kim. Karen was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She stayed busy in her working career; she worked as a clerk at Woolworth’s, and also at One Hour Martinizing in Marshalltown for a time. She worked at Porter Cable in Excelsior Springs, MO., and later worked as a CNA Med Tech also in Missouri. She was a proud member of the Red Hat Society and The Daughters of the American Revolution.

Some of her hobbies included putting together crafts, drawing art (which she helped start other family members into doing art

too!). She also enjoyed checking out garage sales, reading mystery novels and traveling to Arizona in the winter months with Duane. They both were huge fans of flying their Cessna Cherokee 182 airplane. She was an amazing caregiver and enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Terry D. (Sayeedha) Witt of Alamogordo. NM, Michael ‘Mike’ (Judy) Witt of Wylie, TX, Kim (John) Daniels of Kansas City, KS. Grandchildren: Walter, Peter, JT, Jennifer, Jessica, Emily, Sam and Josh. Great grandchildren: Asiana, Dayton, Dominic, Vinnie, Mariah, Isabell, Jasmine, Henry, Kinsley, London, Charlie, and Lauren. Siblings: Maynard King, Donna Barton, Barb Campbell, Jimmy Lounsberry, Kenny Lounsberry, Nancey Egger, and Jackie Clifton. She was preceded in passing by her husband and her parents.
