Karri Sanders

Karri Sue Sanders, age 59, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 6, 2024 after a yearlong battle with cancer at UnityPoint Health: Mary Greely Medical Center in Ames.

As per her wishes and her family, cremation rites have been accorded under the care of the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. No formal services have been scheduled at this time. Karri (Chambers) Sanders was born May 2, 1964 in Marshalltown, Iowa. She was the daughter of Charles and Harriett (Werner) Chambers. Karri attended school at Marshalltown High School and graduated with the class of 1982. On August of 1987, she married the love of her life, Steven Sanders. They later divorced but still remained good friends. Karri soon joined the workforce and went on to work for Lennox Manufacturing in Marshalltown for the next 40 years. She always considered Calvin Rockett restaurant her second home. “She had been visiting this establishment as it was Calvin Rockett, Fields and even the Thunderbird.” Karri loved spending time with her grandchildren that made her smile. She was a very organized person that was always willing to lend a helping hand.

She is survived by her children: Samantha Sanders, Tyler Sanders, Stacey Sanders, and Bobby Sanders; her grandchildren: Phoebe, Mya, Tariq, Morgan, Myla, Charlee, and Sienna; her siblings: Penney (Glenn) Stewart, Scott Chambers, and Jane (Warren) Chizek and several nieces and nephews.

Karri is preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents: Charles and Harriett, and her ex-husband, Steven Sanders.
