Katherine Gersdorf

Katherine Gersdorf, 84, of the Villa del Sol in Marshalltown, died there early Saturday morning, December 1. Memorial services celebrating Katherines life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 7th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with interment rites at a later date in the Marietta Cemetery. Ph 844-1234. Born Katherine Anderson on March 1st, 1923, in St. Paul, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Peter and Grace Elizabeth (Blake) Anderson. She graduated from the Marshalltown High Schools Class of 1941. While singing in the church choir, she met her future husband, Glenn. The two were united in marriage on August 13th, 1941, in Princeton, MO. Soon after, he left to serve our country honorably in WWII, coming home four years later. They made Marshalltown their home all of their married lives where she was a homemaker and a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and the Marshalltown Senior Citizens. She was a down-to-earth person who treasured her family, her dogs, laughing and playing cards, feeding the birds and squirrels at the Villa, bingo and sharing time with her table mates at the Villa del Sol. Left to celebrate her life are her children: Cindy (Kenny) Muhlena of Dunbar, Peter (Patty) Gersdorf of Casey, Iowa, Beth (James) Kisner of Storm Lake/Early, Iowa, her son-in-law Ralph Kadner of North Platte, NE., grandchildren: Ryan, Brandon, Mikki, Benjamin, Casey, Erin and Corey and three great-grandchildren. In death she has rejoined her husband who died in March 1999, her daughter Sandy Kadner, her parents and nine siblings.
