Katherine Lucille Miller, 64 of Gilman, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2017 at the Grinnell Regional Medical Hospital in the care of hospice. Funeral services for Katherine will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later time. Katherine Buffington was born on July 22, 1953 at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, California to Donnie Dean and Lucille Brown Buffington. She graduated from SEMCO High School in 1971. On August 7, 1971, Katherine was united in marriage to Willis Miller at Laurel United Methodist Church and to this union; Stacy Ann and Chanda Lynn were born. Katherine had worked at DeLong Jacket Factory for several years but had to quit in 1993 when her health declined. She received a liver transplant 23 years ago on June 2, 1994. Katherine enjoyed shopping, going on family outings and loved watching her grandchildrens activities. Katherine is survived by her husband of 46 years, Willis and their dog, Willo. Children: Stacy Ann (Eric Funke) Pfantz of Le Grand and Chanda Lynn (Jerome) Kline of Brooklyn. Grandchildren: Zachary Pfantz, Alex Kline, Logan Pfantz, Whitney Kline, Morgan Kline and Preston Kline. She is also survived by her mother Lucille Buffington and siblings, Douglas (Kristi Howard) Buffington of Laurel, Deborah (Gary Lippard) White of Marshalltown and Paula (Don) Allen of Eldora as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends Katherine is preceded in death by her father Donnie and her grandparents.
