Katheryn Reno

Katheryn Jean Reno, 80, of Marshalltown, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2015 at Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center. Memorial services for Katheryn will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2015 at Faith Assembly of God in Marshalltown. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be directed to the family. Katheryn Brooks was born on June 29, 1934 in Marshalltown to Chester and Alice Garrington Brooks. She was educated in the Knoxville school district and graduated in 1953. On April 16, 1954; Katheryn (also known as K.J.) was united in marriage to Ollie Reno in Blue Earth, Minnesota. Katheryn worked at Marshalltown Trowel for many years. Later she went back to school and received her BSN nursing degree from Buena Vista University in 1984. Katheryn worked at the Iowa Veterans Home as a registered nurse until retirement. Katheryn was a member of the Red Hat Society, Tops, and was an active member of Faith Assembly of God Church. She was an avid reader, enjoyed watching movies and TV, traveling, going to church, spending time with friends and family, and volunteering at the House of Compassion. She had a special affection for her dog Teddy. Katheryn is survived by her children: Susan (Jerry) Van Houtan of Jonesville, Michigan, Sandra Reno of Manitou Springs, Colorado, Linda (Loyd) Ceaser of Coupeville, Washington and Kellie (Glen) Rohrs of Marshalltown. Grandchildren: Jeffrey Graggs, Jason Malisch, Jeremy McStockard, Marissa McStockard, Jake Downs and Sarah Downs. Step grandchildren: Laura Elliston, Tracy Van Houtan and Gordon Van Houtan as well as four other step grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Siblings: Lorraine Ozanne of Alta Loma, California and Michael (Sharla) Brooks of Knoxville. Katheryn is preceded in death by her husband; Ollie and her parents Chester and Alice.
