Kathleen Jones

Kathleen Jones, 88, of Clemons passed away on Sunday, April 22, at the State Center Nursing and Rehab Center. Her death came peacefully while in care of Iowa River Hospice. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 26th, at St. Josephs Catholic Church in State Center with Fr. Rick Dagit as celebrant. She will be laid to rest in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in St. Anthony. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Kathleen Mary Lyons was born on March 10, 1924, at St. Thomas Hospital in Marshalltown, the daughter of Lawrence and Frances Roche Lyons. She attended school in St Anthony, Iowa, graduating from St. Anthony High School with the class of 1941. On November 25, 1943 Kathleen was united in marriage to Stanley Jones at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in St Anthony. Kathleen had been a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in St Anthony most of her life serving in many offices of Rosary Society. She had worked at Reeces Quick Stop. Kathleen and Stan had owned and operated Stans in St Anthony for 6 years. Kathleen enjoyed baking, picnics, playing cards and treasured her family- especially all her grandchildren and great-grand. Her faith and church life was deeply important to her. Left to cherish Kathleens memory are her children: Richard (Deborah) Jones of Clemons, Paul (Ellen) Jones of Clemons, grandchildren: Chad (Valerie) Jones of State Center, Gretchen (Patrick) Hageman of Marshalltown, Megan (Matt) Koopman of Bothell, WA, David (Jennifer) Vawter of State Center, Aaron Vawter of Gladbrook, Jared Jones of Des Moines and Karin (Dan) Bergum of Jackson, WY; 13 great-grandchildren- Gabe and Halle Jones; Reese, Bennett and Luke Hageman; Finn Koopman; Madeline, Jacob, Luke and Zachary Vawter; and Alex and Savannah Vawter and a brother: Lawrence Sonny (Carol) Lyons of Ames. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents: Lawrence and Frances Lyons, her son: Dale, her husband Stanley and her sisters: Rita Lucille Lyons and Clista Lyons.
