Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish – St. Henry Catholic Church. Following visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial for Kathy will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish – St. Henry Catholic Church with Father Kyle Tietz as Celebrant. Memorials may be directed to St. Francis of Assisi Parish or Iowa River Hospice. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Kathy and her family. For questions or condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call 641-844-1234. Kathy (Snyder) Oetker was born April 22, 1935 in Marshalltown, IA, the daughter of Earl and Margaret (Baer) Snyder. Kathy graduated from Marshalltown High School class of 1954. Kathy was united in marriage to Omer Oetker on July 16, 1960 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. They had three children: Michael “Mike” (deceased), Sheila (Jane) and Troy (Ally). Kathy has four grandchildren: Brad (Sara), Amber (Rich), Addy and Carter and two great-grandchildren: Alex and Alexia. Kathy worked at Fisher Controls for four years and then worked at Elmwood Country Club for many years before retiring in 1997. In 2003, Kathy went to work part-time for Elmwood Country Club until 2018. She always enjoyed having lunch with the girls from Fishers. Kathy volunteered at the St. Francis of Assisi Parish Gift Shop once a month and was a member of the CCW St. Henry’s Church. She helped with the sewing of baby items needed for missionaries. Kathy enjoyed spending time with her family, especially around the holidays. She is survived by her sister, Virginia Hoop and brother, Paul Snyder. She was preceded in death by her husband, Omer; son, Mike; her parents; three siblings in infancy: Lola Mae, Melvin and Ronald; her siblings: Chloris Levis and Lucille Freiberg; nephews: Douglas Freiberg, Johnny Hoop and Jeff Hoop and niece, Janet Levis. Survived by nieces and nephews: Diane Levis, Joe Levis, Homer Levis, Lorna Betts, Jane Meyer, Cindy Dennis, Steve Freiberg, Sandy Freiberg, Terri Coughlin, Shari Clark and Ronald Snyder.
