Growing up, she attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and went on to graduate from Marshalltown High School in 1974.  Kathy was united in marriage on October 24, 1981 to David Rabbitt. Though they later divorced, their union was blessed with their beautiful daughter, Jennifer, who was adopted on May 4th 1987, officially making her little family whole. She worked at several iconic places in Marshalltown over the years, including Randall’s Grocery Store, Party Pack Popcorn and Leath Furniture before settling into a long-time role at the jewelry counter at J.C. Penney. Kathy was a fighter, surviving a double lung transplant and triple heart bypass on October 27, 2000. She loved her family fiercely and especially enjoyed her grandkids. She enjoyed cooking, including her famous “better-than-sex” chicken breast and infamous sauerkraut and ribs. She also had a knack for crafts and a unique sense of humor. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jennifer (Jon Munson) Rabbitt of Ankeny; her grandchildren: Charlie Randall, Emery Starn and Quinton Munson; her siblings: Mike (Lori) Waters of Marshalltown, Pat (Joan) Waters of Marshalltown; Mary “Myrt” (Matt) Hasenwinkel of Le Grand; sister-in-law, Sue Waters of Ankeny, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends, including her “Catholic Girls Gone Wild”  group. In death, Kathy is reunited with her granddaughter, Jossi Starn, parents, a brother, Mark Waters and a sister-in-law, Toni Waters.
