Kathryn M. Henze, 91, of Marshalltown, formerly of State Center, died Thursday, October 8, 2009, at Grandview Heights while under the care of her family and Iowa Hospice.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 12th, 2009, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in State Center. Memorials may be designated to the family. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at Mitchell Family Funeral Home West Marshall Chapel. Kathryn Marguerite Basiger was born on April 20, 1918, near State Center. She was the daughter of James and Flora (Silfies) Basiger. She attended school in State Center, Colo, and then graduated with Maxwell High School Class of 1935. On July 28, 1936, Kathryn married Albert Henze in Des Moines, Iowa. The couple lived in the State Center area their entire married lives. Kathryn moved to Grandview Heights in May of 2006.Kathryn was a farm wife. She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in State Center. She enjoyed playing the piano, sewing, baking, and spending time with her family.Surviving Kathryn is her son, Ronald, of State Center; her grandchildren, Douglas (Holle) Henze of State Center, Randy (Amy) Henze of State Center, Glen (Cathy) Winters of Story City, Lori (Doyle) Richardson of Webster City, and Charlene (Todd) Olson of Story City; her 9 great-grandchildren; her sister, Helen Hahn, of Santa Monica, CA; and several nieces and nephews.In death, she has rejoined her husband, Albert Henze, who died in 1978; her daughter, Annabelle Winters; her half-sister, Vera Snyder; and her half-brother, Chester Jennings.
