Kathryn Wade

Kathryn Ann Wade, 66, of Marshalltown, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2020, at Unity Point Health – Marshalltown. To honor her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and a public visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2020 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 5th at the Center School Cemetery in rural Marshalltown. Kathryn was born on June 25, 1954 in Roanoke, Virginia, the daughter of Carl and Velma (Neil) Pratt. She grew up in the area of her birth and had been employed as a bookkeeper for the Veterans Administration for thirty years. Kathryn came to Marshalltown in 2003 and had been employed with the Marshalltown Public Schools as a custodian. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her friends. Surviving is her significant other, Kenneth Penrod; her children, Christie Martindale and Chad Hanna; three grandchildren; four foster grandchildren: Moises, Damaris, Kayla and Shayna Garcia; a brother, Carey Smith; and two sisters, Cindy Filer and Nina Meek. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents; her stepfather and her loving cat, Sassy.
