Kathy Ann Holtsclaw, 52, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, October 9, 2016. A Celebration of Kathys life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2016, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 1:30 until the service at 3:00 p.m. with lunch being served during the visitation. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Kathy Ann Witt was born at Deaconess Hospital in Marshalltown, Iowa on February 2, 1964; she was the daughter of Walter Keith and Martha Suzanne (Foran) Witt. Kathy attended school in the Marshalltown Community School District graduating with the Class of 1982. She later attended MCC graduating as a member of Phi Theta Kapa in 2012 with an Associates Degree in the Arts. Kathy joined the United States Army shortly after graduating high school, and was discharged honorably from boot camp. On April 21, 1984, Kathy was united in marriage to Kris Alan Holtsclaw at the Central Christian Church in Marshalltown. As a Navy wife, she and her family lived in several places and called them home, which included; Orlando, Idaho Falls, Reinbeck, Iowa, Chicago, San Diego, and returned to Marshalltown in 2007. Kathy had worked in several areas. Her favorite was being a Real-estate Agent, in California. She was an Equestrian, wrote poetry, Beta editor for books, enjoyed creating stained glass works, an award winning Artist, and also loved cars. Left to cherish Kathys memory is her husband of 32 years, Kris; her children, Meghann (Lonnie) Hammitt stationed in Virginia, Keegan (Cheyenne Jewell) of Des Moines and Sara Rose Holtsclaw of Marshalltown, Iowa; grandchildren, Serenity May Holtsclaw (6) and Maxwell Davin Hammitt (1); Kathys mom, Suzanne; her siblings, Brian Witt of Marshalltown and Barbara (Jim) McCready of Missouri. In death she rejoins her father, Walter Keith; grandparents; and her 4 legged friends, Teddy, Tazzy and Kibbles.
