Keith Johannsen

Keith Dean Johannsen, 70, of Garwin, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 23, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook, Iowa. Public visitation will be held on Tuesday April 22, 2014 from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. also at the Peace United Church of Christ. Memorials may be directed to the family. Keith Johannsen was born on January 3, 1944, to Marvin and June Luethje Johannsen in Marshalltown, Iowa. Keith graduated from Garwin High School in 1962. Keith served this county for the United States Army from 1966 to 1972. On August 26, 1966; Keith was united in marriage to Sandra Tucker in Garwin. Keith was a farmer and was owner of JWD Trucking, hauling hogs from 1995 until 2005. Keith was a member of the American Legion Post 0127 Ehrig-Mcturk as well as the Peace United Church of Christ. Keith loved his public relations job at De Selms Motors, where he spent time visiting with everyone who came in. He also loved watching the car channel and NASCAR. Keith also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 47 years; Sandra. His mother June Johannsen. Children: Michele (Joey) Wegner and Jill (Brian) Dilly both of Gladbrook, Iowa. Grandchildren: Brooke and Hunter Wegner and Steph and Sidney Dilly all from Gladbrook. Sister: Joyce (Steve) Hutcheson of Garwin and a sister in law Bonnie Johannsen. Keith is preceded in death by his father Marvin and brother Bruce Johannsen.
