Keith Loney, 78, of Marshalltown, died Wednesday, March 28, at the Iowa River Hospice House while surrounded by his loving family. Following cremation, a visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 30 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home, with a public vigil and rosary service beginning at 7:00 p.m. A Memorial Mass for Keith will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 31, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marshalltown. Inurnment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown. Memorial contributions may be directed in his name to either St. Mary Catholic Church or Iowa River Hospice. He was raised on the family farm in the rural Marshalltown and Haverhill areas and graduated from the Van Cleve school system. Following graduation, Keith honorably served his country as a member of the United States Navy from 1952 1956. During this time he served with the 6th Fleet, Korean Conflict.Keith received his honorable discharge from the Navy in March of 1956 and returned home. Keith was united in marriage to Jeanette Edel on September 15, 1956, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marshalltown. Keith and Jeanette raised their three sons Paul, Mark and Matt and farmed on their family farm until the time of his retirement. Keith will take so many good memories with him: the people he worked with, played with and a few he disagreed with.Keith was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion Frank-Lewis-Glick Post #46, the Harry C. Harter Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #839, Farm Bureau, and Farm Service Agency.Keith is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jeanette Loney of Marshalltown, his three sons: Paul (Nanci) Loney of Brandon, South Dakota, Mark (Shirley) Loney of Marshalltown and Matt Loney of Ankeny, his two brothers: Dean (Paulette) Loney of Marshalltown and Richard (Renie) Loney Marshalltown and his grandchildren: Jenna, Emily, Jordan, Sam, Luke and Grace.Keith was preceded in death by his parents Emil and Edna, his mother and father-in-law: John and Augusta Edel.
