Keith Duane Ryan

Keith Duane Ryan Age 72, of Marshalltown, IA passed away on May 11, 2022. Keith was born in Grinnell, IA on February 28, 1950, son of Richard Carrol Ryan and Donna Pauline Farley Ryan. Keith and his brothers were known as the ‘Ryan Boys’ in and around Gilman, IA. Keith graduated from SEMCO High School in 1968, enlisting in the U.S. Army Reserves in 1967 at the height of the Vietnam War and shortly after beginning basic training. He proudly served his country for 6 years. Keith married Linda Kvinlaug Ryan in Gilman, IA on November 24, 1973 and they were married for 20 years. They had one daughter, Angela, in 1975. Keith worked for Iowa Electric Light and Power Company (Alliant Energy) for 37 years serving in various capacities. He served as a Union Steward for many years. Keith was an avid softball player and loved tinkering with and restoring cars. He was an active member of the Gilman Jaycees and supported various fundraisers there. He was instrumental in organizing, building, and completing the Marshalltown Girls' Softball Association complex where he worked tirelessly. Keith was a gifted craftsman who could build just about anything. 1950’s era rock ‘n roll was forever his favorite music. Keith is survived by daughter Angela Green (Ryan) of Delano, MN; granddaughters Erin and Evalyn and grandson Brady; former wife Linda Kvinlaug Ryan of Maple Grove, MN; brother Richard Ryan (Sherry) of Quinlan, TX; nephew Justin Ryan of Brandon, FL; nieces Jennifer Fuhs of Clarkston, WA, Casey Chaney of Commerce, TX and Leslie Walsh of Los Angeles, CA; and longtime friend Linda Campbell Schroeder of Marshalltown, IA. Keith was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bruce Ryan, sister-in-law Norma McIlrath Ryan, and nephew David Ryan. Interment at Prairie View Cemetery in Gilman, IA followed by a celebration of his life will be planned for a future date.
