Keith Wendt was born on June 16, 1956 in Rochester, Minnesota, to Howard and Florence (Davis) Wendt. He graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1975. Keith was united in marriage to Robin Macy on July 22, 1983, on a rainy night in Liscomb at the home of Bob and Marlene Bonzer. The couple lived in Dallas, Texas for ten years; Woodward, Iowa for fourteen, and then in Ankeny, Iowa for the last nineteen years.

Keith worked various jobs throughout his life. His first job was during high school at Cashway Lumber in Marshalltown, followed by work at McGregor’s Furniture. He also worked at Coca-Cola in Waukee, a school bus driver in Woodward, and lastly as an overnight truck driver for Carquest.

Keith was very skilled in woodworking and known for being artistic. He enjoyed painting, drawing, crafting and making anything out of wood; but he was most proud of making baby cradles for his grandchildren. His family knew a project was coming when he would say, “You know, I was thinking.” Keith liked cooking and baking. He enjoyed eating black licorice jellybeans, candy bars, and nuts. One of his favorite past times was watching animated movies with his family. He was known as the head of the “minion crew,” a nickname for himself and his grandchildren. He was also a dedicated “wiener dog dad.” Keith, Robin and the family took a week-long trip to Arkansas in June creating lasting memories.

Keith is survived by his wife of 43 years and the love of his life, Robin; children: Jessica (Jeremy) Frakes of Madrid, Meagan (Ryan) Ruby of Boone and Brandon Wendt of Woodward; grandchildren aka “minion crew”: Macy, Parker, Lailah, Kennett, Kaiden, Korbyn and bonus minion’s Adelina and Ruby; along with his siblings: Greg (Donna), Bruce (Donita), Mark, and Sheila; brother-in-law: Stuart Fuhs and special family friend: Marlene Bonzer, along with his wiener dogs: Pixie and Izzy.

Keith is preceded in death by his parents: Howard and Florence; mother and father-in-law: Don and Joyce Macy; sister-in-law: Beth Fuhs; brother-in-law: Will Macy and grandmother-in-law: Marian Walton. He is also preceded by his dogs: Winnie, Toby, Sadie and Sir Nigel Frankenweenie.

The family would like to thank his entire health care team and a special thank you Ankeny Paramedics for taking such great care of Keith.
