Kelcy Kathleen Benscoter was born January 3,1952 in Marengo, Iowa to Max & Juanita Stanerson. She was raised in rural Marengo along with her siblings, Denny, Jeanne and Max. Kelcy married Greg Benscoter and they moved to Marshalltown where their sons Aaron and Eric were born. They began their small business, Ben’s Tire, and when the marriage ended, Kelcy continued to run the business. Kelcy was the face of Ben’s Tire for decades. Everyone who went there knew they were going to be greeted with a smile and a donut. (And if she really liked you, an inappropriate joke and some harassment.) Customers who decided to nap while waiting did so at their own risk as Kelcy was quick to take a picture. You never knew where or when that picture would surface! She knew customers by name, asked about their families and was generous and giving to all. Time spent at her shop was always memorable! Kelcy loved animals and it was widely known that if you needed a home for a cat or dog, she would probably take it. She took in many more than she should have and her shop and home were always full of cats and dogs. Along with her animals, Kelcy loved her friends. She enjoyed hanging out, playing Pepper and having a cold beer. If you knew Kelcy, it was likely that you shared a drink and a fun time with her at some point. She always made things fun for those she was with. Animals and friends were a huge part of Kelcy’s life but her greatest loves were her grandchildren. Their names were proudly displayed on her car, her shop garages, picnic tables and even her foot. She was very involved in their lives and the kids loved being with her. Grandma Kelcy was always at their sporting events, music concerts and awards ceremonies. She loved having them for sleepovers, taking them to weekend movies (where she usually fell asleep) and having them over for her famous tacos. They all knew that she couldn’t say no to whatever they asked and all four used that to their advantage! She was incredibly proud of them and took every opportunity to shower them with love. Kelcy will be missed by many friends and family members, but she leaves them with so many memories. She is survived by sons Aaron (Sarah) and Eric; grandchildren Gretchen, Ethan, Blaedyn and Isaac; her siblings and many nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Max and Nita
