For questions or to leave a condolence, please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call 641-844-1234. Kenny James August was born May 21, 1942, to James and Anna (Hoffman) August in Manchester, Connecticut. Kenny was never one to back down from a challenge and was met with an early obstacle at 9 years old when he lost his eye. However, that never deterred his sense of wonderment and exploration. Kenny graduated from Hawkeye Technical College in 1968, studying auto mechanics. After his career in automotive, he returned to his passion for carpentry and became a master craftsman in the interior finishing industry, where he always strived for quality. Kenny’s life took him around the country from Connecticut to Colorado to Alabama and to Iowa, among the 38 states in which he has worked and lived, but his home was where he hung his hat. He brought many smiles to many faces and those memories will always be cherished by many friends and family.   Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Kelly Kadner of Union, IA; his granddaughter, Chelsea August of Spencer, IA; and his great-grandchildren, Presleigh and Cameron August. He also is remembered by his siblings, Irving (Pat) August of Tallon, CT; Phyllis (Richard) Soucier of Foley, AL; and Daniel (Julia) August of Sebring, FL. Kenny is preceded in death by his parents, James August and Anna Fancher. Until we meet again, Dad. Your brown-eyed girl, Kelly Rae.
