Kenneth Lee Crumrine, 83, of Gladbrook died Wednesday May 5th, 2010 at Westbrook Acres with his loving family by his side. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 10th at Badger Hill Cemetery near Gladbrook. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice and the Gladbrook Food Pantry. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Kenneth and his family, phone 641-844-1234. Ken was born on June 26th, 1926 in Rose, KS to parents Fred and Faye (Hutchinson) Crumrine. Kenneth attended school in Greene, IA. Kenneth served his country honorably in the Pennsylvania Guard Army Engineers from 1950-1953. On January 15th, 1963 Ken was united in marriage to Mayre Louise Harris at his brother and sister-in-laws home in Barrington, IL. After Ken was born, his family moved to Greene, IA to escape the drought and depression. They then moved to Clarksville, where Ken lived his childhood. The family then moved to the southside of Des Moines. Kens family then settled in Gladbrook in 1946. Gladbrook became his permanent home, except during retirement, when Ken and Mayre became winter residents of Florida. In 1955, Ken and Dale Osten began their custom home building business Crumrine and Osten Builders along with long-time employee Don Hasselmann. Ken was a member of the VFW, Gladbrook Water Board, Gladbrook Town Council, Gladbrook Wrestling Boosters Club, and Cub Scouts. He thoroughly enjoyed camping with his friends and family, fishing and spending quality time with his friends, wife, children and grandchildren. Ken will be greatly missed by all who knew and continue to love him. Left to celebrate his life is his beloved wife Mayre; his son Harris (Michele) Crumrine of Marshalltown; his daughter Jana (David Molnar) Crumrine of Ankeny; his grandchildren: Lydia and Phillip Molnar, Colin Crumrine, Autumn, Denali, Kierra and Trey Gardner of Marshalltown, as well as many friends. In death, Ken has rejoined his parents, his siblings: Everett, Roy and Fred Crumrine, Neva Poland, and one whom passed at birth.
