Kenneth L. Ferguson, 86, of the Embers in Marshalltown, former longtime LeGrand resident, died Tuesday, April 15th, at the MMSC. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 18th, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Marshalltown with Pastor Gregg Davison assisted by pastoral care worker, Jolene Jebsen, officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Strand Lutheran Cemetery at Dunbar with flag presentation honors by the American Legion Frank Lewis Glick Post #46. Prior to the burial but after the church service, the family invites all to stay for a time of fellowship and refreshments in the church hall. Born Kenneth LeRoy Ferguson on January 8, 1922, in Marshalltown, he was the son of Chester and Grace (Miller) Ferguson. He graduated from the Ferguson High School in 1940 and at a young age earned the nickname, Pete. Kenny served our country honorably in the United States Navy in WWII. He returned to work at Fisher Controls where he was employed prior to entering the service and retired after 41+ years of faithful service. Mr. Ferguson was a member of the Strand Lutheran Church at Dunbar and upon their closing, moved membership to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, the LeGrand Lions Club, served on the LeGrand City Council. He was a 25 year member of the LeGrand Volunteer Fire Department and did many hours of volunteer service in LeGrand. He enjoyed precision woodworking, drawing, was hardworking and treasured his family and friends. Left to cherish his memory are Maxine, his loving wife of 66 years, three children: Kent (Nancy) Ferguson of Morrison, Colorado, Kregg (Doris) Ferguson of Des Moines, and Sheri (Craig) Olsen of Savage, MN, 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and his sister, Marie Jackson of Thomasville, GA. In death he has rejoined his parents and brother, Gerald Bud Ferguson.
