Kenneth 'Kenny' Ferrin

Kenneth Kenny Ferrin, 69, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Iowa River Hospice Home with his loving family by his side. A public visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home where Kennys family will be present to greet friends. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Kenny and his family. Kenneth E. Ferrin was born on July 7, 1948 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Elmer and Evelyn (Lundstrum) Ferrin. He was raised and educated in the Marshalltown School District, graduating from Marshalltown High School with the class of 1966. Kenny attended Marshalltown Community College from 1966-1968 and was enrolled in the Drafting and Engineering program there. In 1968, Kenny was drafted into the United States Army where he honorably served his Country. Following his time in the Army, Kenny returned home and started working for the Iowa D.O.T. He dedicated thirty-three years with the Iowa D.O.T before retiring in 2003. On September 14, 2012 in the state of Texas, Kenny was united in marriage to Karen Tiger. He was a proud member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics. He also had a passion for his model airplanes, boating with his friends and family, traveling, dancing and spending time with his grandchildren. Left to cherish Kennys memory is his loving wife, Karen Ferrin; two children: Natalie Hazen and Shane Perry; three grandchildren, Jinub, Kianna and Janette; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law. He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother Brent Ferrin; and his mother-in-law, Christel Tiger.
