Kenneth L. Hazen, age 71, of Marshalltown, passed away Sunday, October 3rd. Even though his death came suddenly and unexpected, he was in the peace and comfort of his home, a place he loved. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 15th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Private interment will be at a later date. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com . Ph. 641-844-1234. Born on May 4th, 1950, in Marshalltown, he was the son of Harlan and Dorothy (Slifer) Hazen. He received his education in the area of his birth and graduated from the Marshalltown High School. Kenneth called Marshalltown home his entire life. He worked for McGregor Furniture and MCC in years past and enjoyed a good day fishing, camping and time at the lake. Collecting antiques and working on old cars and lawn mowers were right up there too. He absolutely loved taking kids and his grandchildren on rides on his mower. Kenneth also dearly loved cats. Left to cherish his memory are his children Stacie (Bruce) Allbee and Kelly (Lisa) Cross all in Arkansas; grandchildren- Shaylyn Hoffman and Kevin, Kristian, Kamren, Kenzie and Kerry Cross; great-grandchildren- Harmony and Connor Hoffman; his longtime girlfriend and her family- Karla Barker of Marshalltown, her father Darrell Barker and her children Joanna and Jenny Barker; his mother Dorothy of Marshalltown; brother Larry of Lakeview, Arkansas and sister Sharon (John) Blunk of Half-Way, MO, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In death, he rejoined his father, his brother Steve, and several aunts and uncles.
