Kenneth Dean Hodgson, 77, of the Iowa Veterans Home, formerly of Grinnell, died early Wednesday morning, May 19th, at the IVH, where he has resided since January. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 24th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. He will be laid to rest in the IVH Cemetery. Born on April 8th, 1933, in Montezuma, Iowa, he was the son of Bruce Kenneth and Mabel Marie (Tuttle) Hodgson. He grew up in the Malcom/Grinnell area and Des Moines. He graduated from the Grinnell High School in 1951 and soon entered the United States Army serving our country honorably for 22 years in Germany, Korea, Japan and Viet Nam, retiring in 1975. On June 12th, 1982, he was united in marriage to Patricia Lee Smith in Buddtown, N.J. They soon were a family of five with her three sons and lived in New Jersey, Malcom, and Grinnell. Kenneth was employed at Wenco and Van Wyk Wood Builders. He enjoyed his family, doing woodworking, models and puzzles. Left to cherish his memory are Patricia, his loving wife of nearly 28 years, sons Brian, Keith and Kenny, his siblings: Arlene (Sid) Lamb of Malcom, Marlin (Rose) Hodgson of Bay Springs, Miss., Viola (Richard) Anciaux of North English, Iowa, Bruce Hodgson of Grinnell, Donna Cox of Newton, and Janice (Ron) VanWyke of Dallas, TX as well as many nieces and nephews. In death, he rejoined his parents Bruce Kenneth Hodgson and Mabel Marie Tuttle Spading.
