Kenneth M. Nichol

Kenneth Melvin Nichol, age 84, died at his home on Edgebrook in Marshalltown, Iowa, on November 2, 2014. Kenny was born in Conrad, Iowa on May 18, 1930, to John and Charlotte (Hegwood) Nichol. Kenny was employed at Marshalltown Foundry until its closing. He was active in the union and Lennox Credit Union. He then worked at Iowa Electric Light and power until his retirement in March 1995. He married Claudia Jeanne Hoy on November 15, 1947. They made homes in Rhodes, State Center, Boone, Green Mountain, and Clarinda, Iowa. Kenny was preceded in death by his wife, Claudia, in 2009; his parents, brother, John Roger, and great-granddaughter, Melissa Mathes. He leaves to mourn three daughters: Gloria Jeanne (Bob Rodale) of St. Charles, Missouri; Rebecca Jo (Keith Mathes) of Marshalltown; Teri Rolene (Milton Wikstrom) of Waverly, Iowa; son, Kenneth Duane of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. He also leaves a brother, Lawrence Nichol and 13 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. Kenny shared his life with numerous friends and co-workers, and his special friend, Anna. Cremation rites have been accorded. A visitation for family to greet friends will take place from 4:00 8:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at Pizza Ranch in Marshalltown (2305 S. Center Street).
