Kenneth L. Kenny Owen, 75, of Marshalltown, died Saturday, March 27th, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. He will be laid to rest in the Marietta Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 30, 2010, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the family. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Kenny and his family. Phone 641-844-1234.Kenneth Lloyd Owen was born January 4, 1935, to Archie Eugene and Ida F. (Wentzell) Owen in Marshalltown, Iowa. He received his education in the Marshalltown area and then joined the United States Army from 1958 to 1964 where he served in the Vietnam War. Kenny resided in Marshalltown all of his life. He was employed at Fisher Controls, Banzhaf Roofing and most of his working years were spent self-employed doing garbage routes. Kenny retired in 1997. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and Ducks Unlimited. Kenny enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to Meskwaki, giving the staff a hard time at IVH and loved his guns, boats and hunting dogs. Left to cherish his memory is his sister Jean Thompson of Marshalltown and several nieces and nephews. In death, he has rejoined his parents, Brothers Paul Owen and Raymond Owen and his Sisters Joan Stock, Deloris Thompson and Norma Church. There will be a lunch after the burialat the Copper Kettlein the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.
