Kenneth Pfantz, 88, formerly of State Center, died Friday, September 30, 2011. Funeral services for Kenneth will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 3, at St. John Lutheran Church north of State Center. Burial will follow services at Hillside Cemetery. Visitation for Kenneth will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service. He was raised and educated in State Center where he attended the State Center Grade School, St. John Parochial School and went on to graduate from the State Center High School. Kenneth was a veteran of the United States Army and actively served his country during World War II. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Kenneth returned home to State Center and began his lifelong career in farming. Kenneth was united in marriage to Vera Mosbek on November 24, 1946, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in State Center due to the fire at St. John Lutheran Church. Following their marriage they made their home on the family farm and raised their family.Kenneth is survived by his wife Vera of Story City, his children: Gary (Jan) Pfantz of State Center, Connie (Chris) Hand of Maxwell, Marcia (Mike) Landgraff of Chisago City, Minnesota, Tamara (Thomas Forsgren) Pfantz of Ames, Dalona (Mike) Fiscus of Radcliffe and Lance (Kristi) Pfantz of Des Moines, his sister Eloise (Don) Severidt of Marshalltown, his sixteen grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
