Kenneth Howard Schelling, 90, of Marshalltown, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Funeral services for Kenny will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 31, 2014 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. also at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Iowa River Hospice Home. Kenneth Schelling was born on August 10, 1924 in Reinbeck, Iowa to John and Lucinda Boss Schelling. Kenny graduated from Owasa High School. On April, 16, 1944, Kenny was united in marriage to Mary Flanagan at Sacred Heart Church in Grundy Center. Kenny and Mary have called Marshalltown home for the last fifty years. Kenny previously worked for Swifts, retiring in 1986. Kenny enjoyed being an electrician, going to farmers markets and loved airplanes and even made airplanes out of beer cans. Above all else, Kenny enjoyed the time spent with his children and grandchildren. Left to cherish Kennys memory is his wife of 70 years, Mary. Children: Bob (Linda) Schelling of LaMoille, Jim Schelling of Marshalltown and Ron (La Rae) Schelling of rural Marshalltown. Grandchildren: Troy (Cindy) Schelling of Melbourne, Tony (Penny) Schelling of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jennifer (Derek) Ladehoff of Marshalltown, Jimmy (Jamie) Schelling of Dallas, Texas, April (Jamie) Coulter of Melbourne, Beau (Amy) Schelling of Melbourne and Jon Zobel of Oskaloosa. Kenny is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren with one on the way and one great great grandchild also on the way. He also leaves behind a sister Edith Eldridge of Iowa Falls. Kenny is preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Barb Ragsdale and Norma Dole and a brother Donald Schelling.
