Kenneth Paul Smuck, 71, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2014, at the University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 7th, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church in Marshalltown at 12:25 p.m. The family requests that everyone come in casual attire. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6th, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the family. Kenny Smuck was born on September 24th, 1942 to Paul and Dorothy Randall Smuck in Marshalltown. Kenny graduated from Le Grand High School in 1960. On August 1st, 1964; Kenny was united in marriage to Elizabeth Liz Green at the Heartland Friends Church in Marshalltown. They made their home in Marshalltown. Kenny had previously been employed with the Iowa Veterans Home as a cook, Lennox Industries, Thermogas, Riverside Cemetery, Times Republican and the Best Western. Kenny was a member of the Kiwanis, Camera Club and the Isaac Walton League. Kenny loved the outdoors; youd never see him sitting still. He liked to watch birds, fish, hunt, go to Knoxville to watch the races, archery and woodworking. Kenny loved to tinker with things and could fix everything. Kenny also had a love of animals. He had a dog named Toby and two bobtail cats; Mike and Ike and two grand puppies Lily and Tobie. Kenny also would never drive past a garage sale without stopping to see what he could find. Above all else; Kenny loved his wife of almost 50 years and his family very dearly. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 49 years; Liz. Children: Kim (Ron) Snyder of Marshalltown and Kristine (Bill) Chapman of Marshalltown. Grandchild: Brandon Snyder of Marshalltown. Siblings: Betty Ruse of Marshalltown, Bobb Smuck of Marshalltown, Beth Smuck of Marshalltown and Luey (Bill) Jesina of Marshalltown. Kenny is preceded in death by his parents; sister: Kathy Meyer and brother in law Gary Ruse.
