Kenneth Herrald Strickler, 62, of Marshalltown, died early Tuesday morning, January 9th, at the St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, MN. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 13th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with full military honors by the VFW Harry C. Harter Post #839. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Kenneth and his family. Kenneth was the son of Raymond and Velma (Herrald) Strickler and farmed with his father at a young age. He served our country proudly in the United States Navy for three years until returning to Centerville. On June 25th, 1966, he married Patricia I. Donovan and moved to Marshalltown to begin work at Fisher Controls. He was employed at Fishers 34 years until retiring seven years ago. Kenneth battled cancer nearly all the time he was retired with such a positive attitude that was admired by many. He helped form the Mid-Iowa Tractor Association which was something he enjoyed very much- restoring tractors and two-cylinder motors. His life was devoted to his family and his three grandchildren. He was always available to help friends or neighbors with anything they needed. Surviving are his loving wife of 40 years, Pat Donovan-Strickler, daughter Deanna Lynn Strickler Witte (Justin), grandchildren: his special Shuree (better known as Buddy, age 16), Sierra (age 8), Sage (age 5), his siblings Richard (Judy) Strickler of Centerville, Russell (Marie) Strickler of Numa, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Strickler, Kathy (Casey) Jones of Moulton and Mr. and Mrs. Randy Strickler, his mother-in-law Pauline Donovan, in-laws: Judy (Dick) Baines, Cindy (Steve) Johnson and Mike Donovan all of Centerville, cousin Alan (Irene) Strickler of Marshalltown that was also a very close friend and a host of friends as well as his dog. In death he has rejoined his daughter, Julie Ann Strickler who died at age 17, his father Raymond and mother Velma, brother Eugene and father-in-law Bill Donovan.
