Kenneth “KC” Taft Jr. age 77 of Beaman and formerly of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on the morning of March 23, 2026 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.
Services for KC will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026 beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to services. Kenneth Carl Taft Jr. was born, February 21, 1949 in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was one of three children born to Kenneth C Sr. and Beulah (Mathers) Taft. He grew up in Marshalltown and graduated Marshalltown High School in 1969. He furthered his education at Marshalltown Community College earning his Bachelor’s Degree.
On December 30, 1982, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Cheryl Savage. Together they had four children, AinaJuanita “AJ”, AsherDee “Dee”, Kenneth Carl III and Keri. They made their home in Marshalltown and moved to Beaman in 1993. KC was a man of many talents. He worked for Everett’s Trucking as a mechanic and later became a draftsman with Dunham Bush and eventually MEPCO where he later retired. KC’s life revolved around his family; the household was always filled with love. He was a proud grandpa and his grandchildren spent almost every day with him after school. He is remembered by his family for always being a great cook and an amazing father. Additionally in his free time, KC enjoyed spending time in the garage working on his cars and motorcycles.
Those left to remember and cherish his memory are his children, Michelle (Brad) Beeler, AJ (Jeff) Conaway, Dee Taft, Kenneth Carl Taft III and Keri (Scott) Hafner; seven grandchildren, Jefferey Conaway Jr., Ivan Conaway, AndeeJean Conaway, Dakota Conaway, KlowieAnn Smith, Lily Hafner and Rowan Hafner; and his siblings, Wanda Holcomb and Jennora Anderson.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl Taft and his parents, Kenneth C. Taft Sr. and Beulah Bray.
